SummaryThe Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Testing Platform team.
Team Purpose: Provide the foundation for software engineers to self-service on quality practices by providing tools and frameworks to write tests and testing environments to execute them.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with team and stakeholders to plan, prioritize, delegate work, balance project goals with technical requirements and team skill sets.
- Driving execution – ensuring projects are on track, key performance metrics are being met, and work is being actively unblocked.
- Communicating proactively on progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Ensuring the engineering team is engaged and productive, understanding the big picture.
- Coaching team, conducting performance reviews, providing career guidance, building a professional and inclusive work culture.
- Managing risk and succession planning for the project, documenting and implementing lifecycle management and best practices.
- Interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring engineers to quickly make them productive and engaged members.
Skills and Experience:
- Several years of engineering experience, including management/leadership.
- Several years of hands-on experience developing, designing, reviewing web applications.
- Experience in building and operating resilient software systems and services using scalable infrastructure technologies (e.g. Kubernetes).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with multicultural, remote, and distributed teams.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Work flexible hours with core overlap time from 2-6 pm UTC.
