Job Overview
In partnership with the executive team, the Fan Expo Show Manager will build and execute a collaborative vision for key Fan Expo HQ events. Key Responsibilities include: building a world-class event program, driving ticket and exhibitor sales, and ensuring operational readiness. This role grows events, manages marketing materials, programming, staffing, supplier contracts, and logistics.
Strategy:
- Work with the executive team to conceptualize, create, and deliver innovative onsite experiences.
- Attend strategy meetings, contribute new ideas, and pitch show features/activations.
- Develop strategic plans to achieve revenue goals and drive ticket sales.
- Analyze previous year activities and results; create post-show proposals for improvements.
Management:
- Oversee operational preparations with a team (operations, marketing, content coordinators).
- Participate in strategic planning and coordinate execution.
- Manage event work, engage shared services (marketing, sales, etc.).
- Maintain relationships with venues, partners/suppliers; develop relationships with local sponsors, exhibitors.
- Research and secure show suppliers, balancing lowest cost with high quality service.
- Review quotes/invoices; manage show budget, floor plans, and booth regulations.
- Analyze processes to improve organization and save costs.
Qualifications:
- College/University degree in Event Management, Business, or Project Management.
- 5+ years of operational/event management experience.
- Strong organizational, time management, and adaptable skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; critical thinking skills.
- Experience with unionized facilities is a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills and tactics.
- Travel 4-5 events per year (Canada and US). Valid passport required.
- Proficiency with Illustrator and floor planning, Salesforce/CRM is a plus.
