What will you be doing? As an Electronics Engineer, you will join our team to support our activities within the Naval sector. At ALTEN, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, designing firmware for advanced systems in the defence and aerospace sectors.
You’ll work on exciting projects such as developing FPGA-based solutions for cutting-edge sonar systems, secure communication devices, and high-performance radar technologies. These mission-critical products require precision, reliability, and adherence to industry-leading safety standards, giving you the chance to make a tangible impact on future defence capabilities.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Design, develop, and test FPGA-based firmware solutions, leveraging expertise in Xilinx FPGA chipsets.
- Independently execute end-to-end firmware development projects within tight timelines.
- Ensure compliance with SIL 2 safety standards for functional safety-critical systems.
- Perform detailed debugging and validation of FPGA designs to meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate firmware with hardware and software solutions.
- Work within security clearance protocols to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive projects.

Experience, skills and qualifications required:
- 5+ years of experience in firmware engineering, with a strong focus on FPGA design and development.
- Proficiency with Xilinx FPGA toolchains (e.g., Vivado) and related technologies.
- Ability to work independently on complex firmware projects, from concept to completion.
- Familiarity with SIL 2 safety standards and their application in firmware development (preferred).
- SC clearance or the ability to become SC cleared.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with experience in debugging and testing.
