About Polygon LabsPolygon Labs builds and develops a network of aggregated blockchains via the Agglayer, secured by Ethereum. The Agglayer brings together user bases and liquidity for connected chains, leveraging Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs contributes to scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains (Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, Polygon Miden, Polygon CDK).
Your RoleDecentralized technologies emerged as alternatives to fundamental human systems. Finance, identity, and computation can be transacted without intermediaries, unlocking possibilities for democratic ownership and individual control in global digital networks. A decade of volatile cycles diverted focus, misaligned projects, co-opted projects, and projects shaped by self-interest. Many protocols abandoned vision for value. Now, resilient projects have emerged from the web3 turbulence with faster, more secure, and more cost-effective blockchain stacks. Your job is to help ensure the delivery of a robust "decentralization layer" matching the transformative potential of Polygon Labs' vision and technology. You'll be a founding member of the revamped Polygon Governance team, developing ideas, tools, and policies to guide the Polygon ecosystem and support future technologies. This role reports directly to the CEO, within a highly collaborative environment. You'll work with leading blockchain experts and have opportunities to travel globally for industry events.
Your ResponsibilitiesThe Governance Program Manager is a strategic generalist—curious, adaptable, and motivated by complex, interdisciplinary challenges. A natural systems thinker and facilitator, you have strong interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Lead the decentralization strategy for a major product vertical within the Polygon ecosystem.
- Convene stakeholders to identify challenges, ideate solutions, and drive change.
- Draft governance policies, develop frameworks, scope technical projects, and manage external collaborations.
- Communicate complex ideas to internal and external audiences (technical and non-technical stakeholders, executive leadership).
- Contribute to a culture of excellence by producing high-quality documentation.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years in a high-impact, cross-functional role with leadership and achievement.
- Excellent communication skills (public speaking, strong written English).
- Experience managing projects or operations with ownership mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to drive alignment in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Comfort working with technical teams and translating complex concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience with decentralized governance models and blockchain ecosystems.
- Familiarity with corporate governance, public policy, economics, systems thinking, or network design.
- Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Non-traditional background with success in startups, emerging technologies, or industry transitions.
