What Does a Group Director, Medical Strategy Do?
Consults with Science, Creative, Account, and Planning teams for the creation of compelling medical content across digital and print media.
Identifies new clinical developments and implements disease state knowledge to drive client business growth through promotional and unbranded initiatives.
Analyzes clinical data, conducting literature searches, participating in medical conferences, and performing competitive analyses.
Engages and informs colleagues, healthcare professionals, and clients, including medical, legal, and regulatory groups.
Collaborates and communicates deliverables and strategic recommendations with clients.
Manages and mentors junior Medical team members.
Guides the creation of clinically cogent and engaging promotional materials and ensures effective use of clinical data to reach strategic brand objectives.
Improves medical literacy across agency groups and provides medical understanding on disease states, clinical trials, and treatments.
Guides submissions for client medical/regulatory approval processes and incorporates client and regulatory feedback.
Occasional travel (less than 10%).
What Are We Looking For?
Advanced clinical/scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) with at least five years of experience in an agency (or pharmaceutical industry supporting marketing or medical communications).
Passion for science and medicine, proven track record of communicating medical advances to different audiences, and ability to get up to speed quickly on new therapeutic areas.
Ability to lead and execute development of content, including data analysis for a wide range of complex projects, with minimal review/direction.
Independently and accurately incorporate strategic concepts into projects and guide others to do so.
