Hardware Sustaining Engineering Manager
As a Hardware Sustaining Engineering Manager, you will be a member of the team responsible for global hardware design, standards, and architecture. Additional responsibilities include leadership and development of Hardware Standards Engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the sustainability of server, storage, and full-rack hardware standards for ServiceNow datacenters worldwide.
- Manage and design documentation for server, storage, cloud service provider, and rack SKUs.
- Document change management processes.
- Develop new designs and changes to non-capacity components (cabinets, PDUs, cables, etc.).
- Maintain relationships with resellers/integrators and suppliers.
- Ensure hardware supply continuity by identifying alternates.
- Work with hardware manufacturers to evaluate new technologies.
- Design, build, and maintain operational configurations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan hardware rollouts and address issues.
- Manage daily work assignments for individual engineers.
- Lead a team in troubleshooting and problem remediation.
- Provide career development to engineers.
Requirements:
- 8+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree; or 6+ years with Master's; or PhD with 3+ years experience; or equivalent.
- 7+ years datacenter management/technical program manager experience.
- 2+ years experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Experience with enterprise server/storage solutions, rack-level power design, and network cabling.
- Intermediate understanding of AC/DC power calculations.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication/customer skills.
- Willingness to travel for first article inspections and trade shows.
- Experience integrating AI into work processes (using AI tools, automating workflows, etc.) is a plus.
