Full-Time Head of Project & Portfolio Management

Position Summary: The Biogen Development Head of Project and Portfolio Management leads and manages a team of project planners and managers to ensure successful delivery of the Development organization’s project portfolio. This encompasses late research through loss of exclusivity, aligning with organizational strategic objectives.

What You’ll Do:

1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring necessary skills, knowledge, and resources.
2. Foster a collaborative, results-oriented team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
3. Implement and refine portfolio governance frameworks for optimized decision-making.
4. Oversee portfolio governance (IND through Proof of Concept and technical review committees) for all clinical projects.
5. Monitor and report on project performance, providing improvement recommendations.
6. Oversee development of reporting tools, dashboards, and self-service options for project status tracking.
7. Ensure comprehensive project plans including objectives, deliverables, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
8. Implement and oversee project management methodologies, standards, and tools.
9. Cultivate advanced project management capabilities within the team.
10. Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders (Finance, Development Leadership Team, Corporate Strategy, etc.) regarding project status, risks, and performance.
11. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders for effective communication and collaboration.
12. Manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication and reporting.
13. Lead efforts to assess and enhance project management methodologies and tools, staying current with trends and best practices.
14. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement enhancing project delivery efficiency.
15. Contribute to organizational strategic planning through portfolio performance insights.
16. Participate in senior management discussions influencing project and portfolio management efforts.
17. Serve as a member of the SPOQ leadership team.
