About the role Reporting to our Head of Safety Leadership, in this 6-month fixed term contract as Health and Safety Specialist you’ll support the strategic transformation of Health & Safety at Contact. The go-to person for any questions beyond the scope of an H&S Advisor, your in-depth knowledge of critical risk management and assessment will come to life as you take a context-driven, pragmatic approach to further embed the safety culture. While compliance is important, we focus on the psychology of humans. We’re working in a progressive way, and safety is no exception.
About you You’ll be the subject matter expert on all things Health & Safety. You'll have sound knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation, ideally in heavy industry. You’ll need strong communication skills to convey complex information to various audiences. Presentation skills, high EQ, and great listening skills are essential. You'll need great writing skills, and facilitation experience is a plus. You would ideally have worked at a senior level before, with appropriate qualifications and registrations and plenty of experience in H&S that goes beyond box-ticking.
Your responsibilities Act as a connector to all parts of the business, providing Health & Safety support to Generation & Trading and Retail. Be independent, involved, informed, and informative; run learning teams, collate reporting, and help pull Board papers together. Take a human-centered approach to keep us safe.
Location and Benefits This role can be fully remote. We support our people to work how, where, and when works the best. We offer superb learning and development opportunities and various perks, including a ‘Good to be Home’ payment and discounts on Contact Energy products. This ad closes on February 21st, but we're considering applications as they come in.
Only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered. If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every criterion, please still apply.
