Full-Time Health Record Technician Coding/Abstracting

Accountabilities: Coding and abstracting for NACRS and DAD following CIHI standards and ICD-10 CA/CCI guidelines. Clarifying uncertain clinical information for accurate data collection. Using abstracting and reporting to distribute data internally and externally. Collaborating with Registration, Decision Support, and Finance teams for quality decision-making and accurate funding. Participating in data quality improvement projects. Practicing continuous learning to enhance skills as a health information management professional.

Requirements: Graduate of a recognized health record information management program, active CHIMA membership, minimum 5 years of DAD and NACRS coding experience using ICD-10/CCI and current knowledge of CIHI standards. Computerized abstracting experience (WINRECS preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CIHI coding queries, Meditech and eHIM. Understanding of CMG (Complexity). Applying data quality practices and standards to coding/abstracting. Excellent organizational, data interpretation, communication, and critical thinking skills. Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record. Willingness to work from home after probation, if requested. Other: Currently days (subject to change). Remote First role, occasional onsite work required.
