Covers human development, fluid dynamics, reproduction, nutrition, and body defenses against illness.

Human Biology with Lab (BIOS150)
Introductory course on biological principles of the human body, emphasizing structure and function of major organ systems. Virtual labs, case studies, and discussions explore core concepts in biochemistry, biology, genetics, anatomy, and physiology. Covers human development, fluid dynamics, reproduction, nutrition, and body defenses against illness.
Topics include:
- Demonstrate anatomical terminology.
- Describe cell structure/function.
- Explain biological macromolecules.
- Explain tissue organization within organ systems.
- Recall factors influencing the body (nutrition, environment, exercise).
- Describe common disease states.
- Describe reproduction and genetics.
Responsibilities
- Develop syllabus following template.
- Organize and update course materials.
- Conduct student-focused coaching.
- Use online technologies effectively.
- Model effective communication.
- Set clear expectations for course objectives and grading.
- Ensure exam content aligns with objectives.
- Provide timely feedback.
- Complete other duties.
- Comply with policies.
Requirements
- Master's Degree (18 graduate hours in Human Biology, Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, or Microbiology).
- Transcripts required.
- 1-year online teaching experience preferred.
- Passion for student success.
- Subject matter expertise and communication skills.
- Collegial manner.
