Full-Time Kubernetes Systems Engineer

Arista Networks is seeking a skilled Kubernetes Systems Engineer for their Engineering Productivity (EngProd) team.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a production Kubernetes cluster (upgrades, monitoring, capacity planning, security, developer experience).
• Enhance alerts, automate alert handling.
• Maintain incident response runbooks.
• Debug issues impacting developer experience and infrastructure stability.
• Adhere to best practices in Kubernetes cluster management.
• Implement automation workflows using shell scripting.
• Collaborate with software engineers to identify and resolve bottlenecks and limitations related to Kubernetes.
• Seek 3rd party vendor support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering + 3 years' experience, or Master's degree + 2 years' experience, or PhD.
• Knowledge of Go, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with shell scripting.
• Proficient in Linux (or UNIX).
• Experience operating software systems at scale.
• Understanding of storage and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency with Ansible and GitOps.
• Strong expertise with on-prem/baremetal Kubernetes clusters.
• Familiarity with software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently design and implement solutions.
• Comfort with security principles and OSS project debugging.
• Experience debugging complex issues across the technology stack.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience dealing with network proxies and containerized storage.
