Full-Time Lead Software Architect

1. Create solution architecture for complex problems, considering technical and business factors, balancing immediate needs with a long-term, maintainable design.
2. Lead complex technical projects from planning to execution.
3. Experiment with new technologies and create prototypes for development teams.
4. Empower distributed/remote teams through framework implementations, knowledge sharing, and sustainable practices.
5. Lead development and adoption of strategies, frameworks, best practices, and patterns for the software development organization.
6. Mentors engineers to utilize architecture and design best practices, focusing on performance, scalability, maintainability, and security.
7. Drive innovation in technologies, processes, and tools.
8. Develop strategies for significant cost savings through reusability.

Desired Qualifications & Skills

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise-scale cloud-based software development.
• Experience migrating/transforming legacy monolithic solutions to decoupled components/services.
• Experience developing large-scale application architectures.
• Understanding of software quality and architectural risk assessment/mitigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including consensus-building across teams.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Gitlab, GitlabCI.

Bonus Skills

• 3+ years technical leadership experience.
• 5+ years healthcare/genomics experience.
• 5+ years AWS application development experience.
• 2+ years data privacy experience.
• Knowledge of LIMS, WDL, Snakemake, Nextflow, DNAnexus, AWS Omics, etc.
• Expertise in programming languages like Java, Python, React, etc.
• AI/ML experience.
