Full-Time Machine Learning Engineer

Branch Overview: Branch delivers financial services to the mobile generation. Branch is a socially conscious company that uses data science to reduce the cost of financial services in emerging markets.

Job Overview: Branch is expanding. We are seeking talented Machine Learning Engineers. You will develop, improve, and deploy machine learning models, and solve optimization problems, working closely with Engineers, Product Managers, and underwriters. Extensive machine learning use in credit products (underwriting, loan servicing).

Responsibilities:

• Credit Decisions: Build signals from data to identify good borrowers.
• Customer Service: Automate customer service interactions using machine learning and LLM/NLP.
• Fraud Prevention: Identify fraudulent behavior and build prevention models.
• Teamwork: Contribute to technical direction, work cross-functionally with policy and product teams.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years hands-on software development in a production environment.
• Preferred: Startup or early-stage experience.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Data skills (experimentation, statistics, machine learning).
• Cloud computing and data pipelines experience.
• Self-motivated; learn new skills proactively.
• Team-oriented; collaborative and supportive.
• Driven to positively impact customer lives.
