Full-Time Manager, Clearance

Responsibilities:

• Legal clearance of feature films, TV series, and franchises (pre-production to release).
• Marketing, promotional, editorial, direct-to-video, web series, live stage, location-based entertainment, theme park, publishing, title, and social media content clearance.
• In-depth legal analysis of clearance issues.
• Daily liaising with productions and other departments, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
• Extensive research on trademarks, copyright, titles, characters/locations, and artwork.
• Indexing, tracking, and record-keeping of production artwork and media.
• Analysis and record-keeping of rights issues and acquisitions.
• Review of all artwork stages (stills, storyboards, animatics, locked pictures).
• Advising production on clearance issues with strict deadlines.
• Detailed reports on script drafts, record and file management throughout project lifecycle.
• Flagging and tracking concerns regarding Standards & Practices, cultural sensitivity, foul language, and violence.
• Management of advertising, promotions, marketing, and consumer product restrictions.
• Review of credits for accuracy and clearance.
• Contacting third-party companies for rights and permissions.
• Licensing stills and clips via vendors, obtaining releases.
• Reviewing and flagging lyrics and music cues for music clearance.
• Review of intellectual property for licensing, handling outside inquiries.
• Review and analysis of parody and fair use.
• Editorial research and analysis for marketing content and consumer products.
• Title clearance involving trademark research.
• Review of marketing materials (trailers, promos, DVD content).
• Facilitating clearance process details to production teams, emphasizing communication.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years motion picture/TV experience in clearance.
• Animation experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Fast-paced environment, quick turnaround, and tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Gmail.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
