Full-Time Manager of Billing

Manager of Billing is responsible for managing and operating multiple billing teams within the firm's billing sub-department. Works closely with Assistant Director of Billing to ensure compliance with Firm policies and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plays a key role in employee lifecycle (hiring, development, performance management of billing staff).
• Ensures quality and integrity of client billing process and implements billing best practices aligned with Finance department objectives.
• Coordinates response to escalated billing issues and works with the team for timely, accurate resolutions.
• Works with Assistant Director of Billing to elevate team performance, fostering a culture of proactiveness, accountability, and growth.
• Manages billing process for assigned teams, coordinating with billing lawyers to meet deadlines, escalating non-compliance.
• Develops process for effectively disseminating Outside Counsel Guidelines to the billing team.
• Advises on rate changes, monitors billing instructions, and provides guidance on billing arrangements.
• Serves as escalation point for complex reporting requests.
• Reviews weekly E-billing Status Reports to ensure action on rejected/unsubmitted invoices and keeps billing lawyers updated.
• Collaborates with Collections and Billing Compliance to reduce delays and leakage.
• Contributes to monthly department meetings.
• Works with Finance Systems to improve billing workflows and drive technical enhancements.
• Addresses aged inventory through Billing Lawyer outreach and collaboration with Department/Practice leaders. Documents aged WIP and prepares monthly review materials.
• Plays a key role in the annual financial audit process.

• Self-assured, able to handle difficult conversations decisively
• Supervising multiple billing coordinator teams (5-8)
• Effective communication with internal/external stakeholders
• Strong organization and prioritization skills in dynamic environments
• Project leadership, communication, and deadline management
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (memos, spreadsheets, slides)
• Advanced knowledge of 3E, eBillingHub, and e-billing vendor sites
