The MANAGER PROJECT PLANNING takes a leadership role in the management, organization and orchestration of all aspects of planning for a portfolio of hospital renovation projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of Project Managers and work closely with the FM-PRO Leadership, UHN Executive Project Sponsors and Staff to understand and plan for Capital project initiatives.
Duties:- Develop and implement strategies to manage a team of Project Managers to plan renovation projects including scope definition, oversight of functional programming, schematic design, design development and successfully transition to the Redevelopment team for implementation
- Effectively manage the user group planning process including stakeholder engagement and driving user acceptance and sign-offs at critical stages
- Develop, organize and orchestrate resourcing and strategies for managing portfolio of planning projects, address escalated project or portfolio challenges to ensure progression of projects
- Hire, supervise, manage performance, coach, mentor, motivate and develop the team
- Perform and review project portfolio financial management activities
- Review and approve project documentations, including changes to contractual agreements with vendors and clients, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide a supportive role throughout the project planning life cycle, including keeping abreast of project status and risks to address and ensure satisfaction of project parameters and client expectations
- Perform administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient operation of the department
- Completion of a recognized Architectural, Engineering, Design Technology Degree or Diploma or recognized equivalent required
- Minimum seven (7) years related experience in project or program management required
- Minimum two (2) years experience in managing direct reports including hiring, supervision, performance management, mentoring, motivating and developing direct reports
- Experience in leading the planning for hospital or healthcare renovation projects preferred
- Experience with multiple stages of the Ministry of Health (Ontario) Capital Planning Process preferred.
