Virtual Rockstar is seeking a Medical Billing Assistant to support a pediatric therapy team.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations.
- Submit insurance claims and follow up on unpaid claims.
- Post payments to patient accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Review and appeal denied claims.
- Generate billing reports for internal use.
- Ensure compliance with billing and coding regulations.
- Assist with provider credentialing with insurance companies.
- Maintain up-to-date credentialing documentation and timelines.
- Manage therapist schedules and coordinate patient appointments.
- Confirm appointments and send reminders.
- Maintain electronic medical records and update patient files.
- Handle appointment rescheduling and maintain waitlists.
- Answer calls and handle patient inquiries (email/phone).
- Manage referrals and send personalized communications.
- Explain insurance benefits to families and assist with related questions.
- Prepare insurance and billing documentation.
- Handle email correspondence and basic reporting.
- Support data entry and invoice generation.
Requirements:
- Experience with medical billing and insurance processes.
- Familiarity with pediatric or therapy-based practices a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and self-motivated.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
