Full-Time Medical Billing Specialist

• Working assigned AR projects, reviewing claims for accuracy before billing, contacting insurance companies to resolve disputes, checking claim status, assisting patients with billing questions and ensuring claims are paid accordingly.
• EOB review to ensure that denials and payment data is captured and reported correctly
• Supports and undertakes the development of consistent and efficient billing denial processes that result in improved reimbursement
• Use of aging reports/worklogs of open claims to identify key reimbursement and A/R reduction opportunities
• Coordinates third party billing processes between key constituencies to achieve consistent billing performance
• Develops tools that can be used across departments to support consistent billing practices
• Responsible for maintaining payer details
• Researches third party billing issues and questions to ensure that billing practices are current and appropriate
• User of denial information from adjudicated claims to target key billing and reimbursement issues
• Work online payer systems to check for claim status as needed.
• Work insurance correspondence
• Maintain productivity goals and meet deadlines set by the Supervisor
• Development of SOPs at your assigned payer and denial level
• Researches regulatory directives and mandates, and assists with the implementation of billing practices to meet these requirements, especially as it pertains to Government payers

Required Experience/Knowledge:

• Medical billing experience and basic understanding of how insurance process medical claims
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD10 coding and billing rules
• EMR experience preferred
• Nextgen PM system experience preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent customer service skills
