Job Overview
This position is responsible for researching information for the billing process, including charge information and collections. Timely data entry of billing and posting to patient accounts, ensuring CPT/ICD-10 codes and modifiers are correctly reflected. Working A/R to maximize collections, responding to customer inquiries, and ensuring all billing are compliant with payer requirements. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the full Revenue Cycle process and will hold a certificate completing a billing/coding course. This position is remote and requires excellent communication skills, technically savvy and organization.
Duties
- Receive, review and enters charge documents from providers.
- Research all information needed to complete the accurate billing process.
- Ensure daily charges are entered into the practice management system correctly. Verify CPT and Place of Service are consistent, ICD-10 selected are very specific, and provides daily productivity reports to Management.
- Ensure all charge entry activities are consistent, and the appropriate modifiers are being appended per AMA/ Insurance Rules and Regulations
- Maintain current on all claim rejections, denials, and inquiries by assigned payors.
- Record all actions related to patient’s account in the practice management system.
- Ensures all required provider documentation is present and contacts the providers for necessary corrections.
- Processes billing calls and questions and answers related to Charges in question.
- Follow-up on Outstanding Claims.
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly performance objectives.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by leadership.
Previous experience and skills
- Ability to read and extract charge information from physician’s superbill.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Knowledge of billing (CPT / HCPCS Codes/ ICD-10/Modifiers) is required.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications are required.
- Skill in defining problems, collecting data, and interpreting billing information.
- Possess the ability to work effectively with staff, patients, public and external agencies.
- Good customer service and telephone techniques is required, as well as a high level of confidentiality.
Prefered experience
- Fertility Billing
- Artisan and/or EdgeMed experience
Qualifications
- Highly detail oriented, organized, and able to multitask
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to navigate through internet resources available to locate consumers
- High School Diploma or equivalency, Medical Coding coursework and/or certificate preferred
- Stable work history
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to multi-task & work in a fast-paced professional setting
