THE POSITION:

  • The Medical Editor will work closely with Senior Editors and Group Editorial Supervisors to ensure that all projects contain accurate data and that all pieces are free from error. They will be responsible for quality control and fact-checking content based on specifications provided by the EVERSANA Deployment Solutions Business Unit. Should be able to work with teams, as well as independently, and incorporate directions from Team Lead to serve as back-up editor for several clients and brands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams.  These results are best achieved by:

  • Supports internal EVERSANA editorial teams in copy editing, proofreading, and fact checking a variety of print and digital materials, including marketing and advertising materials; proposals and business development documents; product information; sales and training materials; and medical education materials.
  • Incorporation of editorial comments/changes in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and internal mark-up program (Quark; HSI only)
  • Ensures correct grammar, spelling, and usage, as well as adherence to American Medical Association (AMA), agency, and client styles…preferably in active voices, and changing accordingly.
  • Ensures accuracy of data and claims by thoroughly fact checking references; works with fellow Medical Editors and Copywriter to resolve fact-checking issues.
  • Incorporate all four pillars of editorial quality into the editing of client-facing and internal materials: structure and story flow, consistency and clarity in arguments and assertions, spelling grammar, word usage, and punctuation, clarity and consistency of formatting.
  • Enforces consistency in style, tone, and focus throughout brand-specific jobs.
  • Enforce company editorial policy, SOPs, and style.
  • Directs appropriate queries to project managers, writers, and other reviewers.
  • Should be a thoughtful, close reader with a strong understanding of complex scholarly and technical material.
  • Demonstrates a passion for clarity and eye for detail and is able to address issues of workflow, logic and layout.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage numerous, complex jobs in various stages of life cycle, turning them around efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • Team orientated and collaborative.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the US-based Manager, Editorial Services, or VP, Director of Editorial Services
  • Incorporation of changes in PowerPoint, while keeping within template and providing graphic adjustments as needed.
  • Manage editing schedule for projects originating from ex-US offices and coordinate with US-based editorial team for coverage when scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Write and/or edit and maintain team member biographies for global team members in multiple formats.
  • Conduct editorial onboarding sessions for all ex-US new hires.
  • Redact company documents and sales materials to remove client-specific details so that EVERSANA companies can be leveraged in business development efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • An overall 8 to 12 Years of industry experience
  • At least 2+ years of medical copy-editing experience in biology, understanding of strategic content for medical policies of drug or equivalent.
  • Mandatory working knowledge of American Medical Association (AMA) style
  • Experts in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and particularly Adobe Acrobat and PowerPoint. Candidate will be trained in electronic editing/routing processes and systems (Proof and Quark). Should be able to acquire and interpret terminologies associated with various therapeutic areas, science, markets, and products for all assigned accounts.
  • Responds well under pressure as the role requires flexibility and open communication with international Editorial team members. Ensure quality assurance of all deliverables. Familiarity with medical terminology is a MUST. Candidates must have mastery of the English language, including broad knowledge of vocabulary and grammar rules and exceptions, and must possess the ability to identify and correct mistakes typical of ESL writers (ESL = English as a second language)

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or higher in English, Journalism, creative writing, linguistics, or similar related discipline, or relevant work experience is required.
