What a Medical Editor Does:
The Medical Editor provides a range of editorial services, including medical editing, copyediting, proofreading, and claim (fact) checking for pharmaceutical advertising materials (digital and print), internal and external presentations, and corporate communications.
A Medical Editor understands the project lifecycle of pharmaceutical advertising tactics and ensures editorial consistency and FDA compliance throughout this cycle by owning assigned brand(s).
They serve as the primary editorial voice for a brand, demonstrating proficiency in editing, claim checking, and submission tasks for various clients and brands.
They also play a key role in creating, maintaining, and communicating brand style guidelines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent education and experience) required; Master's degree accepted.
- Minimum 3+ years of editing experience in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industry.
- At least 1 year of experience in advertising and/or marketing preferred.
Edits for:
- Clarity and consistency of language
- Accuracy of brand and messaging
- Appropriate tone and balance
- Overall cohesiveness, flow, organization, style, grammar, spelling, and typographical errors
- Accurate referencing and formatting.
Claim checks:
Materials to ensure comprehensive and accurate support for claims; provides submission support as needed.
Collaborations:
Works collaboratively with internal teams to prepare promotional materials (mobile apps, iPad detail aids, print sales aids, websites, videos, emails, speaker decks, etc.) for medical/regulatory submissions.
Other responsibilities:
- Manages numerous brand tasks with competing deadlines.
- Coordinates with other Editorial team members and Resourcing.
- Represents the Editorial department at internal kickoffs and status meetings.
- Creates and maintains essential documents (e.g., brand style guides, process documents).
- Supports the onboarding and training of new Medical Editors.

Compensation:
$56,000 to $83,000 (USD) and is not applicable to locations outside the U.S.
Compensation depends on relevant experience, job qualifications/skills, and geographic location.
