Job Overview: A subject matter expert and role model, the Operations Coordinator coordinates team efforts to compile and maintain coding department data for various functional areas. This role monitors division statistics and evaluation measures, maintains the department's dashboard, ensures compliance with State and Federal standards, and oversees daily staffing and work assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations, provides direction, training, and mentorship.
- Monitors coding compliance with regulatory standards.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Designs and implements workflow processes for continuous improvement.
- Participates in continuing education, collaborates with educators, and provides education on operational processes.
- Assists with employee engagement and teamwork promotion.
- Prepares schedules for adequate daily coverage and A/R goals.
- Collaborates with other divisions on Team Site/SharePoint content.
- Collaborates with manager for staff performance reviews, counseling when necessary.
- Responds to physician/clinician concerns regarding coding results.
- Coordinates department projects, leads system testing and staff training.
- Monitors staffing levels and work activity, supporting Coding management.
- Collaborates with Epic team to ensure efficient workflows.
- Analyzes/identifies opportunities to reduce coding denials.
- Assists with budget preparation, seeking efficiency and cost savings.
- Participates in organizational meetings as required.
- Trains new hires and on-boards contract coders.
- Compiles monthly productivity/quality statistics and reports to Coding Manager.
- Identifies educational opportunities for staff.
- Travels to NM locations/regions as needed.
- Facilitates staff huddles, updates resources.
- Assists with administrative duties like PTO requests, schedules, and timesheet management.
- Assists in policy and procedure development/maintenance.
Qualifications:
- RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credential.
- 5+ years coding experience in an acute healthcare setting.
- Leadership experience.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 7+ years coding experience in an acute healthcare setting.
