Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and provide direction, training, and mentoring to staff.
- Monitor all Coding responsibilities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the division.
- Design and implement workflow processes for continuous improvement.
- Participate in continuing education, collaborate with Coding Educators, and provide education for operational processes.
- Assist with employee engagement and teamwork.
- Prepare division schedules to support management A/R goals.
- Collaborate with other divisions to maintain Team Site/SharePoint content.
- Collaborate with manager to complete staff performance reviews.
- Counsel staff on performance issues.
- Respond to NMHC physicians, clinicians, and support staff regarding system and coding concerns.
- Coordinate department-specific projects; lead system testing and staff training.
- Monitor staffing levels and work activity, and support Coding management.
- Collaborate with the Epic team to ensure efficient workflows.
- Analyze and identify opportunities to reduce coding denials.
- Assist with budget preparation, identifying ideas for efficiency and cost savings.
- Participate in organizational meetings as required.
- Train new hires and onboard contract coders.
- Compile monthly productivity and quality statistics and report to Coding Manager.
- Identify educational opportunities for staff.
- Regular travel to NM locations as specified by the manager.
- Facilitate staff huddles, and update resources on the Shared Drive.
- Assist with administrative supervisory functions, such as PTO requests, scheduling, staff hours management, and timesheet verification.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of department policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credentialed
- 5 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare setting
- Leadership experience
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 7 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare setting
