Full-Time Outpatient Coder II (Remote)

Job Responsibilities:

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visits.
• Thoroughly reviews medical records to code diagnoses and procedures.
• Interprets health records using anatomy, physiology, clinical disease process, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
• Sends physician queries for clarification when needed.
• Follows Coding Clinic guidelines for HCPCS and CPT.
• Maintains at least 95% accuracy in selecting appropriate diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensures 90% coding productivity and 95% quality standards.
• Analyzes system changes and participates in software testing.
• Identifies opportunities to improve CAC (computer assisted coding).
• Resolves NCCI Edits with approved hospital modifiers.
• Uses 3M Encoder resources for accuracy.
• Articulates rationale for coding selections.

Required Qualifications:

• AHIMA credential.
• 20-30 CEUs every two years.
• 3-4 years of acute healthcare coding experience.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credential.
• Must reside in IL, IN, IA, or WI.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 4 years of acute healthcare coding experience.
