AECOM is seeking a dynamic PFAS Chemistry Lead to spearhead consulting services across the US West Region.

This pivotal role leverages expertise in chemistry to address PFAS challenges, adapting to evolving technologies and regulations.

Key Duties:

  • Crafting best practices, project guidance, and training materials for environmental data quality, analytical methods, and regulatory compliance (focused on PFAS).
  • Providing expert consulting for chemistry-related project needs (method selection, lab coordination).
  • Utilizing advanced chemistry, statistics, and spatial information for PFAS solutions.
  • Leading a forensic chemistry initiative, driving business development, and encouraging laboratory partnerships.
  • Empowering teams with geospatial database tools for better decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing best practices for QAPPs, SAPs, and data quality objectives.
  • Supporting selection of appropriate analytical methods for characterization, remediation, and compliance.
  • Engaging with commercial labs and innovators in PFAS sensing.
  • Coordinating analytical standard synthesis.
  • Auditing quality compliance for analytical services.
  • Assisting project teams in estimating project costs and data quality assurance.
  • Engaging industry and government professionals to stay current on regulations.
  • Developing training materials for staff on analytical methods (RCRA, CERCLA, SDWA, CWA, CAA, National Functional Guidelines).
  • Establishing best practices for geospatial data analysis.
  • Leading a forensic chemistry practice analyzing chemical evidence.
  • Advancing chemometric data mining for source identification.
  • Supporting consulting chemistry practice growth and business development.
  • Collaborating on PFAS technical practice group initiatives.
  • Defining and implementing growth objectives for existing and new clients.
  • Expanding opportunities with existing clients and establishing new relationships.
  • Working with AECOM CAMs to identify opportunities.
  • Creating scientifically sound methods and analytical tools for PFAS.
  • Collaborating across regions for PFAS solutions cross-selling.
  • Leading client listening efforts to refine objectives.
  • Representing AECOM at national conferences and fostering technical dialogues.
  • Supporting PFAS research and development with practitioners.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field, 8+ years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Advanced computer skills (GIS software, R, machine learning, AI).
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles.
  • Knowledge of PFAS analytical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Leadership capabilities.
  • Business development background.
