Position OverviewAs a Project Accountant, your primary responsibility is to provide financial support and oversight for projects. You will monitor project financials, track costs, ensure accurate billing, and analyze project profitability. Collaborate with project teams, project managers, and finance departments to ensure financial success and adherence to budgets. This position can be based remotely, and candidates must be willing to travel at least 10-20% of the time for company off-sites, conferences, trade shows, site visits, and other potential events.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely project invoices and billing documentation. Collaborate with project managers to ensure proper project milestone billing.
- Ensure compliance with financial terms and conditions of project contracts.
- Review project contracts, understand financial requirements, billing milestones, and revenue recognition criteria.
- Oversee change orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Conduct regular audits for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage billing functions for timely invoicing and payment.
- Prepare and maintain project budgets.
- Track project expenses and revenue.
- Analyze project financial data and provide insights to project managers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manage project billing and invoicing process.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure financial goals are met.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Assist with project forecasting, planning, and reconciliation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' accounting experience, preferably in accounts receivable.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and NetSuite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Experience in project management is a plus.
