Varo is a new kind of bank, all digital, mission-driven, FDIC insured, designed for customers' lives. We seek a PR Lead to share our story. Goal: tell company, executive, and customer stories to change American banking and saving.
Contract: 6 months, possible extension.
Pay: $45-$55/hr (40 hours/week).
Responsibilities:
- Drive corporate narrative in media, championing financial inclusion.
- Manage executive speaking engagements, preparing speakers for media & conferences.
- Optimize content for visibility, using keywords & hashtags.
- Develop thought leadership content for LinkedIn, with Head of Communications.
- Write/develop content (press releases, pitches, fact sheets, etc.).
- Identify & execute proactive media opportunities.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate communication plans.
- Manage consumer product launch PR plans.
- Monitor press coverage (company, industry, competitors).
- Engage & manage media outlets, journalists.
- Provide messaging for inquiries.
- Coordinate crisis communication.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years PR experience (in-house/agency).
- Consumer & corporate PR experience.
- Strong spoken & written communication skills.
- Financial/tech sector experience a plus.
- Creative, passionate storyteller.
- Commitment to project management.
- Fast-paced environment proficiency.
- Self-starter, problem-solver.
- Passion for the mission & customers.
