Job Title: Back Office Supervisor (Optical Revenue Cycle) - Contract
Job Type: 1099 Contract
Location: US-Based (Remote)
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
About the Role: Seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Back Office Supervisor to lead a team handling key revenue cycle functions in optical operations. This hands-on leadership role focuses on accurate and efficient team execution. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in optical/medical billing and serves as team guide, trainer, and escalation point.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead daily activities, ensuring accurate and timely task completion. Provide guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training. Monitor team performance against goals, offering constructive feedback for increased productivity and quality.
- Tactical Operations: Ensure timely and accurate execution of core back-office tasks including medical and vision insurance verification and authorization, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, accounts receivable follow-up and collections, client recall campaigns. Act as primary escalation point for complex claims, billing inquiries, or patient accounts, resolving issues directly whenever possible. Perform quality assurance checks.
- Process and Reporting: Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Identify and document recurring issues and report them to management with suggested improvements. Prepare and present regular reports on team productivity, key metrics (such as A/R aging and claim denials), and overall performance.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in optical/ophthalmology back office, with strong background in medical/vision billing and revenue cycle management.
- Experience in a team lead, supervisory, or senior/mentor role is desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of optical/medical billing practices, CPT codes, insurance verification, A/R follow-up, and claim submission processes.
- Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and medical billing software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to handle complex billing and insurance issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to train and guide team members effectively.
