Full-Time Remote Medical Coder II

Compass Government Solutions, LLC is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Remote Medical Coder II/Auditor to work on proposals for the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

Successful candidates will accurately code and audit medical records across multiple specialties, ensuring compliance with regulations and maximizing reimbursement.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accuracy, completeness, productivity, and timeliness in coding, adhering to DHA and DoDI 6040.42 standards.
• Code records for Laboratory, Radiology, and Dental services.
• Assign correct Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs) and Relative Value Units (RVUs).
• Perform coding tasks in MHS GENESIS® and other military coding systems (3M Encompass 360, JLV).
• Research and resolve coding edit failures.
• Apply knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT coding systems (institutional and professional).
• Utilize reimbursement systems (PPS, APCs, RBRVS) for accurate billing.
• Demonstrate understanding of industry nomenclature, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Apply practical knowledge of medical specialties, procedures, and ancillary services (Laboratory, Dental, etc.).
• Maintain compliance with government and commercial regulations (Federal Register, CMS LCDs/NCDs, NCCI, IOMs, HHS-OIG).
• Conduct coding audits, identify errors, and mitigate fraud/abuse risks.
• Support clinical documentation improvement initiatives and process improvement efforts.
• Utilize practical knowledge of EHR systems and workflows.
