Full-Time Senior Back End Engineer - PHP Laravel

Responsibilities:

• Lead development and design of new features for scalable, high-performance backend systems.
• Take ownership of technical solutions, optimizing business requirements.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and best practice adherence.
• Review business requirements, assessing complexity, risks, and system impact.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, guiding their progress and development goals.
• Explore and introduce new tools and technologies to boost team productivity.
• Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and architecture/design discussions.
• Identify areas for improvement in existing frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to roadmap definition, collaborating with cross-functional teams for innovation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in Laravel backend development.
• Proficient in PHP and Laravel framework.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Extensive experience in software design, delivering scalable, secure, and performant products.
• Hands-on experience with OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Expertise in data modeling, translating real-world concepts into database designs.
• Advanced experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), writing complex SQL queries.
• Advanced knowledge of caching and queuing systems (Redis).
• Expertise in version control (Git, Bitbucket), including branching strategies.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS), serverless, and containerized architectures.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies (Jira).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proven experience mentoring junior engineers.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with product, legal, and operations teams to ensure compliance with KYC/B, Identity & Privacy regulations.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, French a plus.
• Prior experience with food delivery applications.
• Excellent technical documentation skills.
• Strong partnership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
