Full-Time Senior Backend Engineer, Recommendations

About the role:

Design, deliver, and maintain high-load real-time web services. Collaborate with engineers on recommendations and other teams. Build, deploy, and support robust recommendation services (IO-bound, CPU-bound, and data services).

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain AWS CloudFormation scripts and Jenkins/Github Actions.
• Establish service observability with Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and stability testing for recommendations.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical partners to develop/update recommendations.
• Communicate with stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Strong computer science background and networking knowledge.
• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining high-load real-time services.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation/Terraform).
• Experience setting up and improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in a scripting language (Python), and compiled languages (Go/Rust).
• Experience in server-side web services and API design.
• Skilled in setting up/managing observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty).
• Familiarity with Service-Oriented Architecture, communication protocols (protobuf).
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases, distributed systems, and caching.
• Experience with major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Cross-functional team collaboration experience.
• Excellent English communication skills.
