Full-Time Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Bioinformatics team, you'll design, develop, and optimize scalable software systems supporting Guardant's clinical laboratories and data platforms. Your work directly impacts cancer patient treatment options based on genomic data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design & development of large-scale software systems processing massive genomic datasets.
• Drive architectural decisions, promoting best practices in software engineering, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, translate them into scalable designs.
• Deliver features from UI to backend systems and data persistence.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Own and improve build, release, and CI/CD pipelines ensuring quality and compliance.
• Guide software design and delivery in an agile environment.
• Evaluate and incorporate new technologies to advance team capabilities.
• Lead operational excellence initiatives (monitoring, incident response).

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in web application development, software architecture, and infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and software design.
• Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript (with frameworks like Django and React).
• RESTful API design and maintenance experience
• Database skills (PostgreSQL)
• Front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, Redux)
• Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Experience in regulated environments (e.g., IVD, CLIA) is a plus
• Agile/Scrum methodologies experience, with project leading skills is a plus

Additional Information:

• Hybrid Work Model (specific onsite days)
• Salary range: $115,600 - $158,950 (full-time)
