The role

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you are passionate about cloud, infrastructure as code, PAAS, microservices, container services, and a DevOps way of working. Valtech pioneers in how to properly build and manage those complex eco systems. Site reliability engineering is at the core of our vision how this modern day distributed eco system should and can be managed.

A day in the life of a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS)

As Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS) you are part of a multidisciplinary project team working with software engineers, QA engineers, and frontend engineers on experience and commerce platforms.

Your responsibilities will be:

• Building, changing, and maintaining cloud infrastructures in AWS – compute, data, and networking.
• Support teams to set up and maintain their pipelines.
• Coach junior colleagues to improve their technical skills.
• Participate as an L3 cloud engineer in our 24x7 on-call duty rotation.
• Create and maintain necessary documentation for your colleagues.
• Create and maintain automation wherever it makes sense.

You and the role

You are someone with 5 years of experience as a cloud engineer in AWS. You communicate clearly, transparently, and proactively. You have worked in an environment where you needed to work together with developers to get things done. You have experience with public-facing online applications, high availability, and high traffic. You have a cooperative attitude, a DevOps mindset.

• You are assertive with good communication skills.
• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• You have solid knowledge of AWS serverless services.
• You have knowledge and experience with monitoring systems.
• You have knowledge of and experience with various pipelining tools.
• You have knowledge of and experience with microservices-related technology: Docker and Kubernetes.
• You have a good conceptual understanding of cloud architecture and system thinking.
• You have worked as an engineer in a DevOps context.
• You have an excellent command of English (C1 or above).

Are familiar with the following technologies:

ECS. EKS. Lambda. RDS. Guardduty. Cloudwatch. ALB, ELB, VPC, NSG. Cloudfront. Have worked within the context of publicly accessible, highly available eCommerce and/or experience platforms.
