Senior Construction Manager will deliver end-to-end project services within programme deadlines and manage construction delivery (time, cost, quality) for a new project (labs/research and office building) for UCB in Braine-l’Alleud.
This includes managing General Contractor and HSSE requirements, delivering build projects and Programme savings.
Success requires a track record in operational delivery of quality and HSSE processes, strong communication, and interaction with the Construction Team.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing progress, quality, productivity, and reporting of construction and fit-out works.
- Driving project close-out, including snagging and de-snagging.
- Leading construction meetings (post-tender, cost plan reviews, pre-start, regular site progress, high-quality handovers, financial close, safety audits).
- Managing General Contractor actions and site activities, ensuring execution plans are met.
- Ensuring daily site presence during construction.
- Delivering work within agreed AECOM and client values.
- Providing leadership and management for the project to schedule, budget, quality, and environmental standards.
- Acting as Client representative for all day-to-day Contract matters.
- Building and maintaining relationships with client representatives, design, procurement, environment, (sub)contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Delivering the project against all HSE metrics.
- Attending safety meetings, ensuring communication to operational staff and contractors.
- Managing safety messages, auditing compliance with client and AECOM HSSE processes.
- Providing safety training for operational staff.
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in project and construction management
- Experience in pharma, chemical, or similar projects
- Fluent English and French
- Ability to work on-site up to 5 days a week
- HSSE Leadership skills
- Strong client focus, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Compliance and ethics experience
- Experience in fast-moving, challenging environments
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Good IT skills (Excel, Word)
- Valid driving licence
- VCA certified
