Full-Time Senior Cost Manager/Estimator - Life Sciences Construction

Turner & Townsend seeks an experienced Senior Cost Manager to be the primary client contact, ensuring client goals are met through a valuable cost management service.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Developing cost plans and estimates during the design phase.
• Providing cost estimations, planning, and presenting final cost plans.
• Reviewing design services team and general contractor cost estimates.
• Reconciling changes and ensuring contractor data accuracy.
• Communicating with general contractors and project managers to gather information for cost updates.
• Preparing written comments on contractor submissions.
• Coordinating cost information from multiple sources.
• Informing and influencing engineering priorities based on cost impact.
• Resolving scheduling issues proactively.
• Managing cost checks and valuations on large projects.
• Participating in post-contract cost variance and change control processes.
• Managing cost impact/contingency and commitment tracking.
• Preparing funding data presentations and value engineering sessions.
• Providing commercial input for design optioneering and value engineering.
• Reviewing and negotiating contractor/subcontractor pricing.
• Performing quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management.
• Ensuring effective management of post-contract variances and change controls.
• Managing cost auditing, valuation, and validation.
• Producing monthly cost reports for clients.
• Negotiating and agreeing on final accounts.
• Compiling as-built cost estimates for benchmarking.
• Identifying, coaching, and mentoring talent.
• Demonstrating excellence in leadership and service delivery.
• Utilizing internal software for tracking margins, fee forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Implementing and maintaining business management systems and company delivery methodologies.
• Modeling a "one business" culture that balances success for people, clients, stakeholders, and society.
• Adhering to SOX controls (where applicable).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of cost management experience in construction.
• RICS accreditation preferred.
• Experience leading cost management on medium to large projects.
• Construction consultancy experience is a plus.
• Good understanding of construction industry technical matters (procurement, value management, value engineering).
• Excellent communication skills.
