What We're Looking For We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to devise creative engineering solutions for managing the software development workflow and operations. This role demands a leader with strong collaboration skills to work with team members and customers (developers, engineers) in an Agile environment to consistently deliver business value. Proven experience with the full software engineering value stream (build, integration, release/deployment, application reliability, and performance testing) is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Support new platform: Closely work with Lead DevOps, VPE, software engineering, and customer-facing teams to develop infrastructure and applications. Focus on driving scalability, stability, reliability, operability of services, and security for BuildingLink products and services.
- Set standards: Establish standards for deployments at scale, infrastructure reliability, and scalability.
- DevOps Advocate: Work closely with Lead DevOps and VPE to advocate for growing DevOps competencies within the engineering group.
- Develop innovative solutions: Develop innovative ways to smartly measure, monitor, and report application and infrastructure health.
- Troubleshooting: Analyze and understand how teams use the platform and help drive continuous improvement. Perform quick root cause analysis (RCA) of any complexity.
- Propose changes: Propose changes to the technical architecture and design solutions as applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience with system design, algorithms, data structures, and systems analysis.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps tools and practices, enterprise standards, and security.
- Scripting language and object-oriented programming knowledge.
- Advanced scripting and automation skills.
- Strong communication to explain complex solutions in easy-to-understand terms.
- Team player with mentoring and leadership abilities.
- Strong customer focus and independent decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in startup environments and global distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years DevOps Engineering experience
- 7+ years AWS experience (EKS, S3, CloudFront, VPC, IAM, ALB/NLB, etc.)
- 5+ years Terraform (AWS resources) experience
- 5+ years coding/scripting (Shell/Bash, Python, etc.)
- 2+ years build/deployment tools (GitHub Actions)
- 2+ years Kubernetes management (Kustomize, ArgoCD, OpenLens)
