We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior DevOps Engineer adept in software development and experienced in taking projects from conception to production. This role is ideal for someone who breathes technology and is eager to contribute to the open-source community.
As a key team member, you'll build and maintain an open-source serverless processing pipeline for space weather missions and support space weather models. You will work collaboratively in a team-centric environment. Our goal is to make it easier to get a Science Operations Center up and running quickly, and support modelers with the tools and resources they need.
Your role will involve AWS, cloud-native technologies, building and scaling the current pipeline, supporting Space Weather missions, and supporting modelers. Familiarity with open-source is beneficial as we open the infrastructure to a global development community. Understanding automation, repeatability, and observability is crucial.
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure (Fargate workloads, RDS, Lambda, etc.) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Puppet).
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Docker).
- Collaborate with development teams to architect, build, and scale solutions.
- Implement DevSecOps best practices.
- Leverage and contribute to open-source projects.
- Develop and maintain system monitoring, logging, and observability automation (Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Airflow, Loki).
- Architect and support systems for scientific data processing.
- Design and integrate APIs.
- Write clear, reusable, and efficient code and configuration scripts (Python, shell).
- Document infrastructure, processes, and solutions.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- Extensive AWS experience (EKS, ECS Fargate, CodeBuild, RDS, Lambda)
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Puppet)
- 2+ years of Python experience
- DevSecOps best practices experience
- Proficiency with containerization and CI/CD (Docker, GitLab, GitHub)
- Shell scripting and Linux skills
- Open Source Software contribution experience
- Database Management System experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS Timestream)
- API development and integration experience
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of cloud software development experience, focusing on DevSecOps.
- Experience with open-source community projects
- Proven history of taking software projects from conception to production
- Experience with open-source DevOps tools (Grafana, Telegraf, Graylog, Loki, Prometheus, InfluxDB)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
