Auth Infrastructure Team: This team builds infrastructure for Airbnb's Authentication and Authorization systems (credentials, sessions, permission management) for internal and external communities.
Impactful Role: Lead engineering teams focused on user authentication (login, registration, MFA) and authorization (permissions, access control). Define technical roadmaps aligning with business goals and security best practices.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage two engineering teams.
- Define and drive technical roadmap and strategy.
- Mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Foster a strong engineering culture.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Sustain efficient operations and lead incident response.
- Stay current with security trends and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, building high-scale distributed systems.
- 7+ years of engineering management experience, leading and growing teams.
- Experience developing authentication and authorization systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes).
- Experience with incident management and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to attract, hire, and retain top talent.
- Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Bonus Skills:
- Deep understanding of authentication and authorization principles.
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, RBAC, ABAC.
- Contributions to the security or identity management community.
- Experience in a consumer-driven tech company with a large user base.
Location: US - Remote Eligible; occasional office work/offsites possible. Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
Compensation: $244,000 - $320,000 USD
