Vimeo is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Engineering Manager to join our growing Trust & Safety team! At Vimeo, we empower individuals and businesses to harness the power of video. As a Trust & Safety Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers dedicated to building and enhancing safety features and technologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Policy, and Operations) to develop and implement innovative solutions addressing online safety challenges. This role requires strong technical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and deep understanding of Trust & Safety issues. This role may be exposed to disturbing and/or sensitive content.
What you will do:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining safety features and technologies.
- Partner with Product, Policy, and Operations teams to define the Trust & Safety engineering roadmap.
- Foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable systems.
- Collaborate with research teams to leverage machine learning and other advanced techniques.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs to measure the effectiveness of safety features.
- Stay informed about emerging threats and industry trends.
- Mentor and develop engineers.
Skills and knowledge required:
- 8+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, focusing on Trust & Safety or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- 5+ years of experience with PHP.
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of Trust & Safety challenges and best practices.
- Strong technical background with software development and architecture experience.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with machine learning and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Passion for creating a safe and positive online environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Bonus points:
- Experience with video streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., COPPA, GDPR).
- Contributions to open-source projects related to Trust & Safety.
Base Salary Range:
- NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles: $184,000 - $251,500
- Other US cities: $165,600 - $226,350
