Full-Time Senior Environmental Consultant

Joining the Assystem Environment Consents & Engagement Practice as a Senior Environmental Consultant, you'll be part of our Environmental Management service offering, focusing on the Yorkshire Green project. The role involves:

• Supporting completion, submission, and assurance of environmental consents/permits (including discharge consents).
• Authoring and updating the Construction Environmental Management Plan and related discipline plans.
• Supporting project ecologists, raising awareness of site constraints and mitigations.
• Liaising with local stakeholders, authorities, the Environment Agency, contractors, or consultants.
• Ensuring duty of care for waste, reviewing waste transfer notes/hazardous waste, reporting waste volumes, and organizing/reviewing waste testing (WAC tests).
• Advising the project team on environmental risks and compliance, attending regular update meetings and leading environmental updates/progress.
• Attending site inspections and audits, sometimes with clients or the project team, to identify and mitigate risks (e.g., pollution prevention with spill kits or plant nappies).
• Providing toolbox talks and training to the project team on environmental matters (e.g., Great Crested Newts and spill kit training).
• Reporting and investigating incidents or near misses, and raising and closing actions.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum associate membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g., IEMA, CIEEM).
• Understanding of environmental risks/opportunities in construction/infrastructure/property/energy sectors.
• Adaptable to client environments, able to work individually and in teams, and lead/manage/motivate teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills (verbal & written), problem-solving, negotiation, meeting management, and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, manage multiple activities/projects.
• Strong client relationship management skills.

Desirable:

• Full membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g., IEMA, CIEEM) or Chartered Environmentalist.
• Masters degree in a relevant subject.
• Experience in construction/infrastructure/property/energy sectors.
