Full-Time Senior Environmental Planner

Senior Environmental Planner position in the Transportation Group of AECOM.

This role will support the multi-discipline environmental group in Transportation. It will involve project management, leading teams, research, report writing, data collection, and compilation.

Responsibilities include:

• Applying expert knowledge of the GDOT environmental process and milestone scheduling for the GDOT Plan Development Process.
• Understanding how engineering, agency, and public involvement activities integrate with the environmental process, focusing on GDOT projects.
• Serving as or supporting the environmental lead, deputy program/project manager on GDOT projects.
• Preparing environmental documentation for project delivery, leading and supporting client and agency consultation.
• Aligning project deliverables with engineering and project delivery milestones.
• Recommending priorities, schedules, and funding sources for public improvements.
• Preparing and managing schedules for multiple GDOT delivery mechanisms.
• Assessing environmental indicators for studies, environmental assessments, and statements.
• Identifying, abating, and eliminating pollutant sources and proposing mitigation measures.
• Working in areas relating to natural/water resources planning, NEPA, community development, public outreach, hazard mitigation, noise, etc.
• Preparing data and scientific documents, including figures, technical reports, and supporting 404/buffer variance permit applications.
• Conducting research and preparing statistical reports on land use, physical, social, and economic issues, and public involvement.
• Preparing and quality-checking environmental deliverables, managing schedules, and guiding clients through the permitting process.
• Quality-checking environmental documents (NEPA, GEPA, and supporting materials).
• Originating and performing technical approach, quality control, data assessments, report reviews, and QA/QC for others' work.
• Gathering data for environmental reports, compiling and interpreting data for recommendations.
• Developing plans, studies, and analyses, managing complex planning studies.
• Applying lessons learned from projects to other projects, advising team members on best practices.
• Providing program management support, managing multiple aspects of projects, tasks, budgets, and staffing.
• Conducting meetings and presenting reports to public, agencies, clients, and stakeholders.
• Preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
• Working independently on most tasks with minimal supervision, serving as a technical specialist in a specific area.
• Responsible for environmental permits and evaluating resource delineations.
• Distinguishing environmental class of action and providing client support in developing options and project alternatives.
• Assisting management with business development and staff mentorship.
