The Premier League’s Football Development team delivers strategic plans to develop players, coaches, staff, and match officials. Individualised professional development programmes are provided for football leaders and multidisciplinary staff across the Academy system.
We seek a Senior Leadership and Workforce Development (LWD) Programmes Manager to develop, design, deliver, and quality assure leadership and workforce development programmes, supporting optimal leadership diversity, emergence, effectiveness, and influence.
- Strategic Programme Development, Design, and Quality Assurance: Lead core LWD programme design and development, supporting the Head of LWD in strategic direction, learning from best practices. Ensure LWD programmes align with Premier League aims by analyzing needs, roles, and learning content (subjects, delivery, effectiveness). Design and content should balance practical relevance and academic rigor. Develop quality assurance, benchmarking, and improvement processes.
- Programme Management and Delivery: Successfully manage and deliver LWD programmes with the LWD Operations Manager. Deliver high-standard leadership development programmes with a team of consultant Programme Leads, recruiting appropriate expertise to meet emerging needs. Manage relationships with Academy Managers, programme consultants, mentors, Premier League staff, and external organisations (FA, LMA, PFA, EFL, academic partners). Ensure alignment with Premier League objectives and values.
- Leadership and Workforce Development: Provide expertise, advice, guidance, and challenge to improve quality of Premier League leadership learning internally and externally. Create a coordinated, connected, and innovative educational approach. Ensure world-leading digital learning and support the Football Development digital learning strategy. Support wider organisation leadership development. Identify and signpost high-quality learning opportunities from external partners. Ensure diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are core to learning innovations and aligned with the Premier League Statement of Principles.
Requirements:
- Strong academic background with practitioner experience in leadership development or management.
- Extensive expertise in leadership development, ideally in elite sport.
- Track record of delivering innovative leadership development, ideally in elite sport.
- Experience in blended learning and digital learning support.
- Experience managing quality assurance mechanisms to improve standards.
- Experience with diversity and inclusion in leadership development.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects.
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation) skills.
- Ability to act proactively and independently.
- Self-motivated team player.
