Turnitin is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join our global team.

Role Overview: This role is crucial for the continued success of our company. You will develop and maintain machine learning models, collaborating with product and engineering teams to integrate ML into our diverse suite of learning and integrity products. Your work will impact millions of students and instructors worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Work with subject matter experts to determine questions and create datasets.
- Develop, tune, and optimize machine learning models for production use.
- Utilize language models (LLMs) and fine-tune them.
- Stay current in the field of machine learning by reading research papers.
- Optimize models for scale and communicate insights to peers and product owners.
- Write clean, efficient, and modular code.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience building deep learning and machine learning models for text data.
- Solid understanding of machine learning math and theory.
- 3-5 years of software engineering experience with Python, SQL, Unix, and Git.
- Proficiency in machine/deep learning technologies (AWS SageMaker, Hugging Face, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Understanding of language models and their application.
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field with relevant industry experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent English.
Bonus skills:
- Experience with large-scale production coding.
- DevOps skills (Docker, AWS).
- Familiarity with front-end development.
- Experience with advanced prompting or fine-tuning of LLMs.
