Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Manager to join our Data Science team.
About the role
As a Lead Data Scientist / Senior Manager, Data Scientist, you will create and manage risk adjustment models and their underlying infrastructure. This includes direct management and mentorship of junior data scientists and collaborating with stakeholders to develop data science solutions to meet business objectives.
Your work will significantly shape Oscar's risk adjustment strategies and systems, enhancing their efficiency and accuracy, which will impact financial performance and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all the models and systems for Oscar's clinical risk adjustment quantification and submissions processes.
- Translates business goals into plans and tactics for the team.
- Works with more senior leaders to establish longer term strategies and roadmaps.
- Participates in team-wide technical and operations management responsibilities.
- Leads and manages a small team of data scientists and/or analysts.
- Interacts and collaborates closely with data and business management across functional areas.
- Leads the research, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, statistical/ML models, and/or advanced analyses.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of industry or other quantitative technical fields (which may include academia)
- 4+ years of work experience working with SQL, R, and/or Python to query, manipulate and analyze data.
- 4+ years experience building data models, using more advanced analytics methods, statistical modeling, and/or data processing.
- 1+ years of people management experience.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $174,000 - $228,900 per year.
You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.
Work Location: This is a blended work culture where everyone feels connected. If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office, Tempe office, or Los Angeles office, you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week.
