Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering to manage the Datastore team.
The Beacon Datastore is the heart of Beacon's platform, encompassing the foundational data model and serving as the centralized data repository and API for Beacon's brain data collection and analytical tools, services, and applications.
You will manage 5-7 engineers and be responsible for the continued development and success of your team and its products, reporting directly to Beacon's VP of Platform.
Responsibilities:
- Manage engineers, coaching them for growth and guiding them through challenges.
- Develop and share a deep understanding of the team's activity and products to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Cultivate a collaborative learning environment, treating setbacks as opportunities for improvement.
- Act as a steward of engineering practices and maintain high standards for quality, productivity, and accountability.
- Help the team scope out and prioritize tactical work, aligned with broader strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the team's development roadmap is outcome-oriented, up-to-date, and aligned with company objectives.
- Own project management responsibilities, including defining scope, timelines, and internal/external expectations.
Qualifications:
- Experience directly managing mid-sized software engineering teams.
- Passion for helping direct reports grow and seize opportunities.
- Strong information-gathering skills, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and reports.
- Bias towards simplicity and effective planning.
- Ability to communicate and follow through on decisions, communicating dynamic changes to collaborators.
- Understanding of bandwidth limitations, technical debt, and non-iterative processes.
- Experience in a regulated industry and navigating agile development with design controls.
