Senior Marine Engineer will be a member of our growing Forensic Architecture and Engineering practice.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to consult with clients, attend vessels and marine casualties, investigate marine engineering disputes, and prepare engineering reports.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate marine casualties, incidents, and engineering failures.
- Attend vessels and facilities for surveys and investigations, providing expert opinions on loss, cause, and extent.
- Provide litigation support and serve as an expert witness.
- Prepare technical reports effectively communicating findings to clients.
- Work independently, manage workload, and ensure prompt billing.
- Develop, mentor, and guide junior staff.
- Participate in business development and market growth opportunities.
- Participate in industry events and seminars, including presentations.
- Understand core values and strategic plan, driving business growth.
Qualifications:
- STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Unlimited
- Sea-going experience as chief engineer with varied machinery and vessel experience.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in marine consultancy, surveying, and investigations.
- Given written and oral evidence in legal proceedings
- Registered as IEng or CEng with a recognized engineering institution.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle access.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Strong organizational and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer
- MEng or BEng
- Recent dual fuel or alternative fuel experience
- Exposure to electronic engines, podded propulsors, and environmental compliance systems
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Travel to project sites and conduct field investigations.
- Work in various environments (hot and cold).
- Physical ability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
