Senior Medical Writer takes the lead in exploring diverse therapeutic areas, transforming complex scientific information into compelling, high-quality content for a variety of audiences. This role involves crafting and refining materials across multiple formats (print, live meetings, digital). Collaborate with design and production teams to deliver impactful, polished deliverables. Ensures integrity and accuracy of projects and initiatives.
Independently develops highly credible content for a full range of projects across various formats (manuscripts, slide kits, newsletters, meeting reports, posters, etc.). Demonstrates in-depth understanding of assigned therapeutic areas, or willingness to learn.
Leads smaller projects and engages with client teams for status updates. Follows established processes. Objectively evaluates scientific literature/data to ensure scientific quality and integrity of content (with Medical Director).
Researches medical/scientific topics using various resources (in-house, online journals, libraries, databases).
Participates/leads discussions regarding medical/strategic content with stakeholders/KOLs.
Manages projects assigned to freelance writers/junior team members (as appropriate).
Assists in program design & outcome measures for educational activities.
Contributes to organic and de novo new business initiatives.
Serves as an ambassador for the scientific services department at external meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution; advanced degree in life sciences (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DPH) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in medical writing.
- Knowledge of/willingness to learn guidelines related to ACCME, PhRMA, FDA, GPP, ICMJE, & OIG.
- Involvement in a broad spectrum of medical content deliverables (congress/symposia programming, curriculum development, publications, etc.).
Requirements:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently & handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously; make sound decisions.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills (interpret and communicate scientific information).
- Reputation for excellence, scientific authority, & leadership with clients, KOLs, and the Scientific Services team.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical scientific information; present scientific/medical information effectively.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, manage multiple projects, collaborate in a team environment, lead client calls/small projects, follow standard operating procedures.
Working conditions: Normal office environment. Extensive computer use. Evening/weekend/overnight work possible.
