AECOM is seeking a driven Program Manager for immediate employment with AECOM’s East Region Class I Railroad Team. This role is remote, reporting to the Mechanicsburg, PA office, supporting AECOM’s Class I Railroad Public Improvements team on various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages complex, large-scale projects (initiation to closure).
- Develops and implements project management methodologies and best practices.
- Acts as IE representative, collaborating with consulting firms.
- Conducts regular risk assessments and develops mitigation strategies.
- Manages projects with multi-disciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
- Provides leadership and mentorship to direct reports.
- Develops and executes AECOM’s strategic plan related to Class I Rail.
- Supports and delivers capital design projects throughout the East Region and US.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Prepares comprehensive project status reports.
- Manages project budgets (forecasting, cost control, financial reporting).
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and AECOM policies.
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities.
- Facilitates knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
- Participates in industry events and professional development.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Civil Engineering or similar field + 10 years related experience or demonstrated equivalency
- 2 years of leadership experience
- US Citizenship (due to projects)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in engineering design, construction inspection, or project management
- Experience with Class I Railroads
- EIT or FE (preferred)
- 2+ years’ freight rail industry experience with Public Improvement Projects
- Basic knowledge of industry-standard software (MicroStation, MathCAD)
- Strong communication, time management skills
