POSITION PURPOSE: The Senior Project Manager must be a proven results-oriented individual with a professional track record in providing profitable professional services and high client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will enjoy a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
This position combines strong leadership, personal communication, and technical skills to commission Hyperscale, Enterprise, and Collocation Data Centers.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate closely with qualified professional and degreed engineers.
- Manage subcontractors and client vendors on client projects.
- Set project assignments and schedules.
- Be a technical subject matter expert for complex mission-critical projects.
- Develop procedures, methods, and testing scripts for clients, projects, internal and external, for complex power, hydraulic and cooling systems for Data Centers, Financial Institutions, and Power plants.
- Lead client meetings, schedules, issue resolutions, and deficiency resolutions for projects.
- Craft proposals for client RFPs and project pricing requests.
- Assist with Veolia departmental budgets, KPIs, and financial planning.
- Coordinate commissioning documentation for contractors, subcontractors, client representatives, and 3rd-party vendors.
- Back check and account for the work of subcontractors.
- Perform any other related tasks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, day schedules.
Remote work from Toronto, Montreal, and/or Calgary, with required travel.
Extensive local, national, and occasional international travel.
Positions may require employees to be away from home on assignments between 50% and 80% annually.
Mondays and Fridays typically designated travel days; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on-site work days. Friday travel allows for weekend time at home.
Work outside of normal business hours may be required to accommodate maintenance windows and weekend project schedules.
Working environment in high-energy areas such as central plants, switchgear rooms, and power transmission areas.
Education/Experience/Background:
- Minimum 5 years of Electrical/Mechanical industry knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate degree from relevant technical programs acceptable based on experience.
- 5 to 10 years' experience in commissioning of complex installations.
- Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
- Demonstrated experience managing design, energy services, and commissioning projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NETA, ASHRAE, LEED, and other building codes and construction industry standards.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of Mission Critical systems and MEP equipment in Data Centers and Power Plants.
- Strong electrical knowledge (High Voltage, Medium Voltage switchgear, Main Switchboards, Backup Generation, UPS, Static/Automatic Transfer systems, 600V AC/DC)
- Mechanical/thermal knowledge (HVAC equipment, Chiller Plants, Evaporative Cooling, CRAH's, CRAC's, Pumping systems, Variable Frequency Drives).
- Experience with plant control systems (BMS, SCADA, PLC's, ALC) and communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, Canbus).
- Experience with instrumentation (sensors, levels, pressures, temperatures, PID control loops).
- Experience with large building MEP systems design, commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy modeling, construction.
- Assessment, optimization and commissioning activities for utility plants.
- Contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of mechanical/electrical systems commissioning, energy and consulting.
- Perform construction observations, review contract documents, develop functional test plans, and execute tests.
- Working knowledge of Life Safety systems a plus.
- Contribute to design and energy projects for clients.
- Produce Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning documents.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- P.Eng. (U.S. or Canada) or EIT/member of professional engineering body preferred.
- CET or equivalent with extensive commissioning experience acceptable.
- LEED Associate preferred.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Canadian CSA Z462 Electrical Safety qualified or U.S. NFPA 70E equivalent.
- Infrared Thermography Certified preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, iPad familiarity a plus.
