About the Role:Brevity is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer passionate about shipping production code and owning product features end-to-end. You'll build upon the Python/Django + React stack, contribute to architectural evolution as usage grows 10x, and champion best engineering practices. This role is focused on individual contributions; minimal people management and business-side meetings.
About the Company:Brevity is a venture-backed, seed-stage startup based in Minneapolis, MN. We provide AI-driven SaaS solutions to Fortune 500s and Mid-Market firms, empowering them to enhance revenue performance through coaching in conversational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, and deploy product features across our stack (AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres (RDS), Redis, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB).
- Contribute to system-level architecture and technical design reviews focusing on performance, reliability, security, and cost.
- Champion engineering excellence through code review, automated testing, observability, and CI/CD, enabling us to scale.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design to define requirements, estimate effort, and deliver incremental value predictably.
- Provide mentorship to junior/mid-level engineers through pair-programming and feedback, while remaining a strong individual contributor.
- Participate in low-intensity on-call rotation (approximately one week per quarter).
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years recent experience as a Senior Software Engineer in a high-growth startup environment.
- Experience with Python/Django, React, AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis/SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB (familiarity with some or all).
- Shipped PRs for Back-End and Front-End microservices, integrated with Cloud Services in the last 6 months, ideally utilizing several elements of the aforementioned stack.
- 3+ years of building and scaling enterprise SaaS applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, explaining technical trade-offs effectively and maintaining a positive attitude.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
